Securware

There are several concepts that are really effective with the current needs of supply chain management such as agile manufacturing, lean production, real-time visibility (RFID or NFC technologies), Internet of things, distributed decision-making or interoperability. The results are great; the companies can identify the product state with the What? Where? When? Why? Paradigm, which was introduced by Auto-ID labs. However, these new concepts are not been applied in Workforce management. Currently, the productivity and efficiency in workforce is a bottleneck compared with automatic manufacturing. I give you an example; in a logistics center you identify the state of a pallet in real time but in a hospital is quite complex to know where the best surgeon for a specific emergency is or if that nurse is working today or what are the team preferences for the next planning or even how I can ask a question to specific manager.

My idea is to move all these concepts to Workforce management (specially looking at visibility), looking at these specific concept-technology terms:

  • All roles play (Workers, supervisors…) –> Mobile Devices, Cloud, Distributed decision-making…
  • Real-time Visibility –> Internet of Things, RFID, NFC, Qr-codes…
  • Agile management -> Data mining, Dashboards, soft management (Not complex ERPs with long learning processes)…

Securware Ladder Process

I want to finish with a twitter pitch of the idea: New agile vision in workforce where all the roles optimize everyday processes based on “Internet of Things” concepts.
